BEIS require electricity suppliers to provide monthly sales data within a month of the month in question (eg October data submitted before 1st December). Monthly returns therefore have to use SF data within these timescales, using D030 data.
BEIS allow for historical data to be updated if suppliers wish to reflect later settlement run data. However, BEIS require annual calendar year data to be submitted by September of the following year so settlement runs will not have been completed for the entire period. Using SF data without subsequent adjustment allows monthly and annual data to be consistent.
Data is submitted via the OGA Portal, access to which can be arranged by BEIS. BEIS require England & Wales data to be submitted separately from Scotland and Northern Ireland data (if any). Suppliers are required to indicate the value of sales being reported, essentially sales revenue from the relevant month’s management accounts.
